Address Updates Social Security is a federal program; they have offices throughout the nation. If an applicant moves, the claim can be transferred to a local office and continue to be evaluated. Answers to Frequently Asked Questions Chances are you will have questions while we are working on your Social Security disability claim. We do our best to provide you with accurate and timely responses. The following list contains answers to frequently asked questions.
Q: I have gone back to work. What happens now? A: You can work and pursue a disability claim if the work you're doing is not considered "Substantial Gainful Activity" (SGA). SGA is typically expressed as a dollar amount grossed in 1 month as compensation for work activity. This amount is $1000 for 2010; it is subject to Cost of Living Adjustments (COLA). If you are working over this level there are other considerations that can be made, especially if the work is accommodated, subsidized, or ends due to your condition. If you become able to work and were disabled for at least 12 consecutive months, you may proceed with a claim based solely on that time frame. Contact our office if you start working so that your Representative can explain how these rules will apply to you. |
